About Ely Cyrus

Ely Cyrus is from Kiana, a village of approximately 400 which sits 60 miles outside of Kotzebue. He is a lifelong Alaskan, resides in the region with his family, is a pilot, and an avid outdoorsman. Ely is the City Administrator for Kiana, and serves as a Board of Director with NANA Regional Corporation, and a council member of the Native Village of Kiana.


Ely believes in fiscal responsibility based on a common-sense and focused approach. He believes that one of the key solutions to balancing the budget, is to promote revenue growth through responsible development of resources, while making measured cuts to the State Budget.


Ely places a high respect of the rights and liberties of individuals, is a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights. He understands the value of improving public safety, substance abuse, and mental health treatment. He views resource development as key to employment and training opportunities for rural residents.

Ely believes in fiscal responsibility based on a common-sense and focused approach. He has visited nearly all of the communities’ in House District 40, and is aware of the many issues facing residents.
